Spring Pre-Emergent
Target summer weeds like crabgrass, goosegrass, and foxtail. Applied February-March for maximum effectiveness.
The best weed is the one that never grows. Our pre-emergent treatments create a protective barrier in your soil that prevents weed seeds from germinating. This proactive approach stops crabgrass, foxtail, and other problem weeds before they become visible—and before they compete with your grass for nutrients, water, and sunlight.
Pre-emergent herbicides work by creating a chemical barrier in the top layer of soil. When weed seeds try to germinate, they absorb the herbicide, which prevents root development. The weed seed never emerges, so you never see it.
Timing is critical. Pre-emergent must be applied before soil temperatures reach the threshold for weed germination. In Louisiana, this typically means early spring (February-March) for summer weeds, and late summer (August-September) for winter weeds.
Early application is essential for effectiveness
